The recent Leaders’ Breakfast, held annually to keep member councils up-to-date in the work that we are doing across the region, is another way that we interact with Government. In 2014 our guest speaker was the Hon Greg Hunt, federal Minister for the Environment. This year our guest speaker was Anthony Carbines MP, State Member for Ivanhoe and Parliamentary Secretary for the Environment. The mayors, councillors and CEOs who attended heard first-hand of state government directions and importantly, were able to raise issues to put on the state government’s agenda.
